1st Extended Outing of the Season

4 drivers/64 dogs/12 hours/70 miles

The guys had a great day yesterday on a little daytime campout.  They started early in the am drove out to a rest stop and spent several hours testing gear and routines.  All had a few tweaks for their gear and equipment.  Dogs are loving the variety in the training.

2013 RACE Schedule~looking to be a busy season

Jan 5  – Knik 200  Teams are on a waiting list

Jan 18 – Rohn will defend his title at the K300 in Bethel.  Martin will try to take the title away from him.

Jan 25 – Happy Trails will host the Northern Lights 300.  James and Elliot are signed up to race.  All 40 slots are full and there is a waiting list.

Feb 3 – the Paul Johnson 450.  A new race for Happy Trails and the 2nd year for the race itself.  Trail goes from Unalakleet to Kaltag back to Unalakleet then on to Nome.  Martin, Rohn and Elliot are signed up and are looking forward to traveling along the villages on the coast!!

March 2 – Iditarod Ceremonial Start in Anc/ Restart in Willow on March 3.

Smooth Trails/Scarce Snow

While there is a lack of snow statewide, our guys have managed to put in some smooth long trails.  These photos were taken on the Little Susitna River ~ a little exciting with that open water but actually safe on the trail itself.
